Biography:
Carolina Amor was born in Peru, Illinois where she spent her early childhood in the small town of Mendota. In he later years, her family moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco, where she spent her late childhood connecting with her roots and heritage. Come middle school she moved to San Antonio, TX where she struggled with the language barrier and the culture shock up until high school. At South San Antonio High School she enrolled in the early college program where she earned her Associate of Arts degree with her High School degree and graduated in the top 20. She applied and attended Texas A&M University-San Antonio with the help of her mentors at Building A Purpose.
She finished her Bachelor of Arts in two years and worked for Building A Purpose as Chief of Staff. After leaving her job at BAP she took a gap year to reflect on what she wanted to do with her B.A. and ultimately decided to aim for medical school with the full support of her family. She is now a non-traditional pre-medical student taking her prerequisites at her alma mater, Palo Alto College, and studying for the MCAT while building her medical school application and working as a home aid for the elderly. When she’s not stressing over her next exam she practices active recall with her parents, paints pictures of her dogs or watercolors of histology slides, and is looking for her next concert to attend.
