Biography:
My family migrated from Mexico in the early 80’s. My father fixed up his own residence and eventually his citizenship when he was 16. He moved from big metropolis cities like Los Angeles and Chicago looking for work and eventually made his way back to El Paso Texas where he reunited with my mother. My parent’s devotion and hard work yielded progeny that would come to appreciate their upbringing and pride for their Hispanic heritage.
I became the first out of my family to graduate from a top-ranked university with my brother following my steps (though with much more vigor!). I have two younger sisters that are definitely not staying behind.
I am also the first one to get hired by a Fortune 100 firm – at this point my dad would remind me “no pierdas los pies del suelo” –or- “stay grounded, stay humble”. I constantly remind myself of my upbringing and how far we’ve come. While staying ambitious is a great element to success – I shall not forget where I come from.
